SIDON: The syndicate representing Middle East Airlines (MEA) employees on Friday pledged to adopt "escalatory steps" if kidnapped colleague Youssef Sader was not set free.
In a statement, the syndicate described Sader's abduction as "an unjustified attack on MEA." It pledged a "major response against whoever thinks of attacking any employee with MEA, the company that has served the nation in dark times."
The statement called for speeding up efforts to achieve Sader's release.
Sader, 50, an official of MEA's IT department, was kidnapped Thursday morning near Beirut's Rafik Hariri International Airport by three unidentified assailants who reportedly sped away in a sport utility vehicle
Angry residents of Sader's hometown of Maghdousheh in south Lebanon blocked a road later in the day to protest against the kidnapping.
